A LEGACY OF INNOVATION
ROOTED IN CRAFTMANSHIP SINCE 1964
Driven by his pioneering entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Lim Liu founded the Mandaue Timber Company in 1964. The business started as a wooden case supplier for soft drinks and beer to San Miguel Corporation (SMC). By 1968, the company expanded by engaging major exporters and introducing kiln-dried wood processing in the Philippines.
1970 - PASSION BORE A NAME
With a surge of renewed vitality, the growing wood company adoptedthe name Matimco Incorporated. Dring this decade, the company also established its first kiln drying plant, enabling MTC to export kiln-dried Lauan to global markets.
1980 - MARKET EXPANSION
In 1984, Matimco expanded its horizons with the acquisition of Kingsway Enterprises Corporation, introducing mouldings and processed architectural wood products for both local and international markets, including the UK and Australia.
1990 - MARKET LEADERS EMERGED
Under the direction of Matimco CEO Charlie H. Liu, a partnership with Solignum marked the birth of MATWOOD, the company’s flagship artisanal wood brand.
2000 - FIRST QUALITY STANDARDS
Matimco became the first Philippine wood processing and treatmentcompany to receive the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Certification.
2010 - MATIMCO: 50 YEARS
For its 50th year, Matimco launched the Matimco Houseof Wood, a chain of showrooms dedicated to wood enthusiasts. During this decade, Matimco also became the first to reintroduce pine and fir lumber asan alternative and more sustainable source of lumber for the local market
2020 - ENTERING DIGITAL ERA
Matimco embraced the digital era by launchingits first e-commerce platform, making quality wood solutions more accessible to customers nationwide.
2025 - MASTERCRAFT COMPLETES THE TOTAL HOME SOLUTIONS
